When you’re a teen and your world shatters – you face serious health issues, move to another country, or war breaks out. Or all of it at once. Who were you before – who are you after? Are you defined by where you are or by where you come from? You carry a backpack, a metal elephant, and far too many questions. How do you feel? And which of those feelings can you openly express?
In August 2022, the Centre of Inclusive Art announced a playwriting competition for young authors in the Polish-Ukrainian Sharing Space project. The Walls was the undisputed winner, with the jury highlighting the highly educational value of the text, its theatrical potential, and literary merits.
The performance is a monodrama by Magdalena Sildatk, staged both in a classroom setting and on the Centre for Inclusive Art / Theatre 21 stage.
The author, Ostap Junko, gathered the experiences of teenage peers fleeing Ukraine after the outbreak of war.
